This listing will be updated as new funding assistance opportunities arise. Last Wednesday 27 April 2022.

In addition to being in our thoughts, we have compiled a list of both funding assistance opportunities and practical ways you can help those impacted by the recent South East Queensland and New South Wales floods.

It’s important to note that not all these opportunities are directly for non-profit organisations – many are for individuals. However, our research team will be closely monitoring funding updates as they relate to the charitable sector, particularly from federal, state, and local governments and we’ll continue to update this post as these opportunities come in.

We also recommend keeping an eye on your local council’s website and social media for exemptions and waivers they may be introducing to support with recovery costs. Here is an example from the Queensland Government.

We know that even after the storms are long gone, the recovery will be lengthy, difficult, and ongoing. If there is anything else the Strategic Grants team to do to support, you – doesn’t have to be grants related! – please reach out. There are also fabulous resources available for anyone needing to speak to a professional, e.g., Lifeline, Beyond Blue and Headspace, to name a few.

How you can help those impacted

We recommend checking out the links below for practical ways you can assist those directly impacted. This is by no means an exhaustive list – we’d love to hear any additional recommendations from you.

Lifeline is experiencing a surge in calls from people needing help following the devastating floods. Donating to their emergency appeal will help them get more trained Crisis Supporters on the end of those phone lines. And you’ll help them get Lifeline Community Recovery Teams on the ground in badly-damaged locations as soon as it’s safe enough: https://www.lifelineqld.org.au/get-involved/donate/emergency-appeal

Philanthropy Australia has compiled a list of organisations currently set up to receive financial support: https://www.philanthropy.org.au/tools-resources/disaster-recovery-flooding-qld-nsw
